Kalk aan de Books is a carnival association that’s was founded on August 25, 1971. The name Kalk aan de Books comes from the period after the war when the workers from Bocholtz went to work across the border in the German lime mines. After work there was a nice drink in the local bars. Here the workers were then recognized / known by the fact that they had Kalk on the Books. The association has undergone several name changes from CV Kalk aan de Books, to BVV Kalk aan de Books and for some time BVV Kalk aan de Books has even been regally recognized. The association proudly bears this behind its name by the mention K.E.
