About How to draw a Pony

How to draw a Pony is a platform for research and experimentation through collective drawing improvisations. We organize drawing sessions for various groups of people. We don’t focus on the aesthetic aspect of drawing, but on the experience of drawing together, where the visual results are unpredictable. In the context of highly competitive fields of art, design and knowledge production dictated by market factors and scarcity of means, we offer a post-individualistic perspective of collective actions which can release pressure from the outcome, encouraging to pay more attention to the ways of collaborating and influencing each other.

Our programme emphasizes the role and potential of non-verbal communication. A group of participants gather in the space. There are huge pieces of paper on the walls and the drawing tools. With every session we propose a different structure for the co-creative action. It is a particular scenario, with rules of interactions between the participants, methods of engagement and directions of experimentation. By providing the framework we accommodate space for unknown, surprise and chaos.

The sessions provide a fun and dynamic environment to get to know each other in action - to be with someone in doing. You get a chance to share a space of the drawing - imaginative and real. Non direct contact with other participants happens on the paper, which enables safe but strong and exciting interactions.

Our programme includes: an educational proposal (for schools, universities, art schools etc.); events for private groups (non-profit teams, educational and care providing institutions, corporations, creative agencies); community projects; and a programme, which is dedicated to those who are artistically experienced. This part of our programme focuses on inviting all kinds of artists to join our sessions, to allow as broad spectrum for experimentation as a multidisciplinary environment can do.
