About Media Master Classes Curacao

Organizing Media Master Classes and events in Curacao for journalists, reporters, anchors, and radio show hosts, while making the public aware of the role and importance of the media in the functioning of a democracy.

In 2013-2014, UNESCO funded research in Curaçao based on the Media Development Indicators study which is being carried out in several countries around the world. Upon completion of the research, based on suggestions from the report, UNESCO has funded Media Capacity Development Programme in Curacao, to be executed by the United Nations Development Programme and RE-Quest Research & Consultancy. The programme was designed to equip journalists, reporters, anchors, and radio show hosts with the right skills for success, while making the public aware of the role and importance of the media in the functioning of a democracy. The programme took place between November 2014 and June 2015, and consisted of a series of events and master classes.

The UNESCO Media Development Programme has been completed and the Participation Programme funding support has come to an end in May 2015, with the Nochi di Prensa. In line with the objectives of the UNESCO Participation Programme funding, the follow-up to the Master Classes Programme has to be embraced by local initiatives and in doing so making it sustainable. Therefore the programme is now partially sponsored by local partners. UNESCO Media Master Classes has proceeded as "Media Master Classes Curacao"​, organised by RE-Quest Research & Consultancy, Tittel Tattle, CoWorld coworking community Curacao & UNDP Kòrsou Kapasitá.
