About WETWARE Magazine
WETWARE Magazine is a zine publication that connects digital fashion and academia. By using the concept of digital fashion as a lens for cultural research, we explore ways in which digital fashion shapes, informs, or deconstructs society. Through WETWARE, we encourage thinking about and engaging with digital fashion as a means of pushing the boundaries of dominant fashion structures.
WETWARE is founded by Vera van Nuenen and Adil Boughlala. Vera is an art, culture and fashion researcher with a special interest in fashion niche publications. Adil Boughlala is a fashion, visual culture and digital culture researcher with ambitions to pursue an academic career. With WETWARE, we approach digital fashion from a critical standpoint to show its position in the landscape of fashion and cultural production. With this project, we respond to our strong need to research digital fashion and to close the gap between academic fashion research.
In 2023, WETWARE Magazine received the Groeispurt grant from Cultuur Academy and the municipality of Nijmegen.
