Wintershall Noordzee B.V. originated from Delfzee N.V., a Dutch entity founded by Wintershall AG in 1965. In 1988, after amendments in form and name, the company was renamed Wintershall Noordzee B.V., just before the acquisition of Pennzoil Nederland Company. Clyde Petroleum was acquired in 2002, creating the basis of the company it is today.
